Originally by: Shadowsword Once upon a time, in a far corner of the galaxy, Bob was created out of some of the best pvp corps. They had very high recruiting standards, and were very good.
Bob attacked Fountain Alliance, a once powerfull alliance weakened by a life too peaceful, and FA folded embarrassingly fast. Player Owned Structure came out, full of bugs at first. A bit later, Bob attacked the north in a clockwise movement. Their intend was to seize as much territory as they could, while the POS bugs favored attackers, a fix was already said to be coming Soon(tm). Bob eventually lost it's gains on the north.
Then Bob attacked ASCN, who folded fast, too, same issues FA had. At this point Bob only has two remaining enemies strong enough to fight them, the northern coalition (who existed primarily to resist Bob's attacks), and the RSF, who was fighting LV. There was also AAA, but Bob feared AAA, too close to their home, losing against them might cost more than an humiliating retreat. So Bob ganged with LV to fight the RSF. The NC, seeing that is RSF was defeated, would be on the receiving end of the Bob+LV stick, joined the fight.
Things went well for the RSF at first, taking LV stations and forcing LV members to live piled on bob/ISS/GBC territory. Then Bob unleashed it's titan fleet. Titans were ridiculously overpowered (they still are, but less so), nuking fleets from the safety of friendly POSes. Titans allowed them to take back LV ground and then part of the RSF territory. Meanwhile the MC repelled the NC and inveded them for a while. Bob did a major mistake, accepting to lower the bar in recruitment policy to increase in size.
Titans got nerfed, and the Bob offensive hit a stone wall overnight. Mollie lost his first, then the RSF regained ground, while the NC did the same and opened a second front in fountain.
Bob lost and lost and lost, for months, until they eventually gave up the remaining 3 regions they had between Delve and the RSF and forted up. The MC turned on them, and the coalition attacked Delve, but due to multiples issues on the coalition side, Bob managed to hold long enough for the coalition not to care much about it anymore, and leave.
The next 6 months were only relatively small-scale conflicts, everyone minding their own affairs and happy, away from Delve's horrendous lag. Bob retook Querious and Period Basis, and quietly build up an alliance about as big as the previous coalition that attacked Delve.
Bob launch MAX. Incapable to understand that it made too many enemies for another invasion ever to work again, Bob attack the north, win for a while, and, once the coalition fully mobilize, lose and keep losing. In order not to have to admit their defeat, Bob immediately attack Goonswarm in the south, and this time AAA join in. Rince and repeat, they win for a while, then get their butts handed to them.
Enter Haargoth, a disgruntled Bob director, who turn Delve from a dreaded months-long utter lag-fest to a opportunity for fast victory. The rest is recent enough not to be covered.
Overall, Bob's history is a tale of arrogance and shady tactics. They attacked just about everyone (except AAA, they feared them), never thinking about long-term consequences, without finishing most of them, and slowly build up the coalition that proved their demise. They also got involved in every soon-to-be-deemed-exploits that were discovered, up to director level, and gloated endlessly about their ruthlessness in using anything that didn't got them an outright ban.
Bob isn't quite dead yet, but the galaxy will be a better place when that's the case.
Good read, BoB 's biggest faults were its inability to close the deal, and having allies that liked to fold to easily.
